What is the show about?
ROBOTS! MAGIC! SLAPSTICK! And tons of audience interaction. No one leaves the show empty-handed or empty-hearted. Magic’s “punk rock Peter Pan philosopher” leads you on a journey of upbeat energy, belly laughs, art and science inspiration.
Vogue put it beautifully:
"he brings the proceedings past the point of silliness to the brink of chaos and lets the audience know that going to that place is okay. It’s more than okay, in fact-it’s the wellspring of imagination and, channeled into creative expression, a super power.” (Read the full article here.)
Show warnings: loud sounds + music, audience interaction, moments of brief + light water spray! (If you have questions about the show in relation to your child's specific sensitivities, please do not hesitate to reach out to us!)
Where can I see the show?
Check our tour schedule for a current list of upcoming performances. Don't see your location on the list? Let us know where you'd like to see us!
How long is the show?
The show runs approximately 60 minutes long, with no intermission.
What age is the show for?
This is an ALL-AGES show! Most popular amongst ages 4 to 10 and their families.
Can I bring my infant?
All are welcome! Please check the specific venue's ticketing policies to find out if you need to purchase a ticket for your lap baby. Due to the very interactive nature of the show, we recommend avoiding the first few rows of seats if you have a baby with you. We also recommend selecting a seat with easy access to an aisle/exit, in case your little one needs a break from the action at any point during the performance. We are happy to re-admit you when you're ready.
Who is Mario, and is that his real name?
Yes! It's his real name. Mario Marchese is a first generation Italian-American magician and maker born and raised in Mamaroneck, New York. He is a self-taught performer and robot maker with a deep love for art. The show is a reflection of his personal experience in art, education, science, and life.
Mario is currently based in Nyack, New York, but spends much of the year touring the show with his wife and co-adventurer, Katie (the show's producer) and their two amazing children, Gigi and Bear.
I am a presenter, and I would like to bring Mario the Maker Magician to my theater. Who do I contact?
We'd love to explore this with you!
United States + European presenters, please reach out to katie@mariothemagician.com.
All other territories, please contact
Can I hire Mario for a private event?
We are currently focusing all of our energy on touring the theater show and are therefore not accepting private event bookings - we're sorry! But oftentimes, we are able to arrange group deals if you'd like to bring your group to the show! Email us!
Does Mario do school assemblies?
Due to the intensity of our theater tour schedule, we are currently on hiatus from school touring. However, if you see that we'll be in your area with the show, please reach out about options for bringing your school group to the theater!
Can I pre-arrange for Mario to select my child as a helper during the show?
We have a strict no-pre-selection policy for our audience participants... it is important to us that this element of the show remains spontaneous. We hope you understand!
